It's been really difficult to be faithful to updating a blog post every single month but I think that I've only missed one (Sorry, June 2014!) Now that our home study has been approved, whenever the 14th comes around it is much easier to remember to update the website. So we are now at 1 year and 1 month into this journey and 5 months on the waiting list!
I mentioned in last month's update that we were doing more decorating in the nursery and that we'd be making a trip to IKEA to get some items. I'm sure you can't wait to see what I bought! Let's just say, it cost more than Kent wanted but I still didn't get all that I was hoping for! :) (I did get the meatballs so that made the ENTIRE trip worth it!!!) I was hoping to get a rug for in front of the crib (we did), curtains (they stopped selling them!), storage bench (also discontinued), spice racks to use as bookshelves (took two full trips through but we found them and they are painted!), and wall decorations (found some great teen room ones but not nursery ones). I've also been using Michael's coupons to buy art supplies for the melted crayon art and for the painted picture frames. If you would like to know more about any of these projects, just comment below and I'll try to do a blog post about it!
Another part of the trip to mom's over Thanksgiving included a trip to Goodwill, of course! Let me just say this and you can judge for yourself! North Carolina Goodwills are SO much better than Goodwills anywhere else and especially South Carolina! They had boxes of diapers and wipes for much cheaper than you would find in the store and they were unopened!! I got a box of each and told my momma to be on the look out! But my favorite new item for the nursery has to be......the baby blanket that my mom made! The picture below is of it almost done but I'll put up a completed picture when we get it. I love that mom made this herself. I love that it is personal and meaningful. And I love that she and I picked out all of the material together and that we came up with the pattern together. I know that I could have gone to a store and bought crib bedding and it would have been less hassle for both of us but this just is so special to me! Thanks momma!!!
Well, that's what we've been up to! I hope to get all of these things on the wall and start piecing it all together soon, but it's Christmas and I'm the music person here at school so that means 4 Christmas programs in one week AND practices! So maybe it will have to wait until next year! Until then, please continue praying for us as we wait (and wait) for our child and as we continue to raise the last $7000 needed for our adoption. God is good all the time!
