We got the news on Tuesday that we were approved and put on the waiting list! We were blessed to have Kent's parents to come down last weekend and we got to go to Savannah on Tuesday! Kent and I knew that we would find out either way about our home study soon and after a long and wonderful day in GA, I decided to check my email for the 100th time in the past 2 1/2 weeks to see if we got any news and there it was. Like flashing lights and fireworks, the "congratulations" flew off the page at me. I handed the phone over to Kent to he could see it too! We have spent the last few days sending in some more paperwork and today we mailed it in!! Very exciting times in the Lundy house!!
We've been through all parts of the home study process and now we are waiting to hear if we are approved. So, just in case you are wondering, "What all is involved in a home study?" Here is some of what we did!
The Home Study is really a series of documents and meetings put together. Our first meeting ended up being the same day as 8th grade graduation! Yikes! We got out of school a little earlier and came home to wait for our social worker to come. We had spent the past weekend cleaning everything. Not that she came through with a white glove or even looked at the cleanliness of our home but none the less...we cleaned!! It ended up being a really great visit. She asked some questions and we showed her around the house. That was all. Really relaxed and really easy. The second appointment ended up being in the agency's office. We had separate meetings with our social worker and discussed all sorts of things. Of course, I'm not going to tell you what we talked about :) but it was relaxed again! The third appointment was a little over two weeks ago and it was another appointment in our home. This one really felt more like a friend visiting in our home. We had coffee and sat on the couch for over two hours and talked about raising children and some more of what is to come in the next couple of months. So what now? Well, we should be hearing any day if we were approved or not. Then after we get that confirmation, we will send in some pictures and information so that it can be put on Bethany's website. Then we will wait to hear news. Please be praying for us as we enter into this new phase of waiting, pray for our baby's birthmother as she makes this difficult decision and for God to guide her to us, pray for me and Kent as we prepare for the nursery and begin buying baby things when we don't know the gender, pray that God will continue to provide the funds needed (we still need around 5,000 more before placement), and finally please pray that God will use us right now in what He has called us to do because while we wait, we will serve Him! |
