We've had several people ask us how the process is going and I feel like I'm just on repeat. Over and over I say the same thing. "Not much. We're just waiting for news, preparing the nursery and raising the last of our funds." Yup, that just about sums it all up.
Waiting for news: We haven't been chosen by an expectant mother yet but we have had some recruitment emails so we know that stuff is going on and we are happy for the families that are being chosen. Until then, things are pretty much the same.
Preparing the nursery: Now this is fun! Mom came down this past weekend to help us with the yard sale (more on that in a second) and she brought down her sewing machine. Now we have crib skirts up! Not attached, but I couldn't help it, I had to put them in place just to see how they look! We also sketched out a plan for the main baby blanket and it's going to be so cute!! In case you are wondering what our nursery theme is: Bright primary colors. We have lots of different patterns, but the main one is a wide chevron with different colors for each chevron stripe. We don't know what we'll be having yet so it has to be a good neutral and I really hate those pastel baby colors! Kent is going to be refinishing/fixing my grandmother's rocking chair as soon as he gets a breath, then that will go in there too! (I'll post some pictures up soon!)
Raising the last of our funds: So far in this process, Kent and I have paid for everything (almost $4000) without having to dip into our adoption fund account. That really has been a huge blessing because our next bill is a little over $14,000 and that will be due when we get the baby. We have almost $11,000 of that! We have been very blessed to have people giving to see our dream come true and some of those people have even donated multiple times. Like I said earlier, my mom came down this past weekend to help us with our yard sale. Our church let us use the gym and many people in our church donating items for us to sell. We had been trying to have a yard sale 3 other times in the past several months but we kept getting rained out! Having the gym to use was a big blessing! This was BY FAR our most successful yard sale to date (out of 3) and we were able to raise $841! Praise the Lord! Another way that we are raising money is that Kent has a been doing some extra part-time work. Over the summer he did summer school and worked maintenance at the school. Now he is tutoring almost everyday after school and working for tutor.com a couple of nights a week. I am so thankful for a husband who works so hard to provide for his family even though we don't know when our next member will be arriving!
So...that's what's been going on here at lovinganewlundy.weebly.com. We appreciate your prayers and your support! I'll do my best to keep everyone up to date!
