February 28, 2015 at 9:51 p.m. our lives would be forever changed with the birth of our first child. Addison Elaine came into the world.
March 1, 2015 at 6:20 p.m. we would find out about it.
March 2, 2015 at approximately 3 p.m. she would enter our lives and our arms.
That's a lot of stuff in 2 days! Amazing answer to prayer in less than 48 hours! Here it is in more detail:
Let's go back to Thursday night. We were having the first Ladies Bible Fellowship at my house. After it was over some of the ladies wanted to see the nursery so I showed them around. They commented that it looked so prepared. I've joked about it many times and explained to them as I had to others before that we had everything that we needed to take in a newborn. We had been ready for months. All we needed was the baby. I remember saying, "Be praying cause we could take one in any day now! We're ready, let's go!" Fast forward a few days to Sunday evening. We had just finished up with choir practice and I mentioned in prayer requests that it had seen 18 months since starting our journey with all of the saving of finances and prayers and waiting. The time of 2 pregnancies. I asked them to pray for us as we wait and as we trust in God during this time and process. We prayed and asked for God's help as we trust in His timing and I dismissed choir. Standing behind me was Kent. He mentioned that our social worker, Tricia had tried calling us several times and needed to talk to us about "something real quick." Church was about to start so as Kent and I were ducking out we assured people that if it's something "real quick" than it couldn't possibly be that were had been placed. Truly, we thought that there was a paper or two that we needed to update because more than a year had gone by. So off we went to the empty band room and called. Shaking the entire time (at least me) we listened as she mentioned to us that a baby girl had been born and the birth mother had chosen us! She informed us as much as she could of the mother and the father. She also told us about the baby. We knew that she was healthy and of mixed race. We were in love. So much of that conversation seemed like a blur. When we got off the phone we knew that we had a baby girl and that we could go get her as soon as she was released from the hospital. We would hear back in the next day or two. Who to tell...who to tell???!!! The grandparents of course! After that, we needed to tell Mrs. Davis that we would needs substitutes for the following afternoon. So I calmly walked to the front of the church (during Pastor's preaching) and got Mrs. Davis. Now I had told Kent that I wanted to tell her myself but when we came out the doors, there was Kent pretending a baby was in his arms and giving it all away! We formulated a plan on how to announce it and then the three of us went back and sat in the service until Pastor Davis was done. When that happened, Mrs. Davis said that we had an announcement to make and Kent stood up and told everyone that our baby was hear and we would get her soon. We went to Wal-Mart that night and got some newborn diapers (since we new her size) and got her some clothes (since we knew now that we had a girl!) Kent even picked out a dress for her. It was so surreal finally picking out something and knowing that we would use it soon! That night we put up the pack and play/bassinet next to our bed. That is something we didn't want to do until we had our baby. The next day was Monday and we went into school. We spent the whole day on the phone with either our social worker, the insurance company and also the doctor's office. Things went so far from there and we really can't share all that went on at the agency. What I can say is from the moment we found out about her to the moment we first held her, she was our daughter. She came home with us that evening and we have been in love ever since!
I will post again about what is next in our adoption process because there is more to come!!!
