November is National Month and it has been one year since we announced our plans to adopt to our friends and family. So much has happened over the course of one year. Some planned and others unplanned. Some brought excitement and joy while others only brought tears.
We haven't been doing to much in the nursery lately. I remember asking our social worker when I should have the nursery completely ready and she said, "as you feel able to." I totally get what she meant by that. There are some days when we just close the door to that room and pretend as if it's not even there. Then there are days that I'm in there measuring and scrolling away on Pinterest just looking for ideas. I've always heard about pregnant moms "nesting" but I read an article that says that EVERY expectant mom "nests" in some way. My heart can't take too much in the nursery when we don't know any certainties like gender, time frame, etc. but I think I "nest" by keeping my mind and hands busy with new house projects (kitchen ceiling here I come!) But we are planning a trip to IKEA on the way to go to my mom's for Thanksgiving. We are going to try to pick up some more things for the nursery. I hope to get: curtains and rods, rug, bookshelves, wall décor, and maybe even a bench or fun pillows. Who knows?! It's IKEA so if anything I'll get my Swedish meatballs and be happy with it! Mom is working on the main baby blanket now and I've got lots of new ideas for bringing in some rainbow colors to the room.
Here is an update on our financial needs: Our next expense is the placement fee of $14,150 and we have almost $13000 of that. After that is possible medical bills, possible birth mother expenses and the legal fee for when we finalize the adoption. All in all we still need around $7000. Please continue to pray for us as we wait and as we raise this funds needed to grow our family.
